Abstract

The origin of the U.S. Newspaper Program and the involvement with it by the National Endowment for the Humanities are reviewed. Activities of the Endowment's Office of Preservation are described along with the U.S. Newspaper Program's contributions as a model for future cooperative preservation programs.
