Abstract
Pressedatenbanken, insbesondere wenn sie in einer Volltextversion mit einem täglichen Update vorliegen, erfreuen sich einer wachsenden beliebtheit. Und doch, die Tatsache ist nicht zu übersehen bzw. zu überhören, daß sie zunehmend auf Kritik, gar auf eine massive Ablehnung stoßen. Der vorliegende Beitrag versucht dieses kontroverse Bild auszuleuchten und im Rahmen einer Beurteilung der Presse-Volltextdatenbank eine geeignete Diskussionsgrundlage zu schaffen. Diese kritische Beurteilung bezweckt keine Erodierung der Existenzberechtigung solcher Datenbanken. Im Gegenteil, mit den aus der Kritik abzuleitenden Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten sollen die Produzenten motiviert werden, benutzergerechte und damit marktstarke Produkte zu lancieren
