- Abstract
- Discusses the challenge of assigning subject headings to academic theses and dissertations in a timely and cost effective manner. Describes a collaborative effort between cataloguer and subject bibliographer at the Nevada University at Reno. The project has proven effective in getting theses processed in reduced time and with less total time spent cataloguing and analysing the items. Concludes that utilizing the knowledge of the subject specialist has also provided improved subject access, particularly in highly specialized theses and dissertations
