    Abstract
    Vom 9. bis 10. Juni luden die Max Planck Gesellschaft (MPG) und FIZ Karlsruhe Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus verschiedenen Disziplinen zu den ersten eSciDoc Days nach Berlin ein. Im Vordergrund der Veranstaltung stand die Gründung einer offenen Community zur Nachnutzung und Weiterentwicklung von eSciDoc, einer innovativen Arbeitsumgebung für die digital gestützte Forschung (e-Research). Knapp 100 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer aus 40 wissenschaftlichen Organisationen in Europa, USA und Japan folgten der Einladung.

    Abstract
    Ein neuer internationaler Standard der Information und Dokumentation - Thesauri and interoperability with other vocabularies (ISO 25964) ist in Vorbereitung. Part 1: Thesauri for information retrieval wurde Mitte August als DIS 25964-1 im ISO Central Secretariat eingereicht. Die Motivation zur Entwicklung eines neuen Vokabularstandards sowie die wesentlichen Änderungen und Erweiterungen gegenüber ISO 2788/ISO 5964 werden vorgestellt. Anhand des Datenmodells zu Part 1: Thesauri for information retrieval werden die grundlegenden Elemente, Attribute und Relationen kurz erläutert. Mit der Arbeit an Part 2: Interoperability with other vocabularies wurde Ende Juni 2009 begonnen. Es sollen Richtlinien erarbeitet werden, um Interoperabilität zwischen Thesauri und anderen Vokabularien wie Normdateien für Namen, Schlagwortlisten, Ontologien, Klassifikationen und dgl. zu gewähren. Der erste Commitee Draft (CD 25964-2) ist für Juni 2010 geplant. Über den Stand der Entwicklung des 2. Teiles wird kurz referiert.

    Abstract
    Seit Juli 2010 lief in den USA ein groß angelegter Test des neuen Regelwerks "Resource Description and Access" (RDA) und des Online-Werkzeugs "RDA Toolkit": Nach einer dreimonatigen Lernphase wurden im Laufe von weiteren drei Monaten über 10.000 Titeldaten- und 12.000 Normdatensätze von den drei US-amerikanischen Nationalbibliotheken (Library of Congress, National Agricultural Library, National Library of Medicine), den 23 offiziellen Testpartnern sowie weiteren informellen Testern angelegt. Im Laufe des ersten Quartals 2011 wertete das "U.S. RDA Test Coordinating Committee" die Ergebnisse aus und erstellte einen Bericht für die Direktoren der drei Nationalbibliotheken. Mit Spannung war nun die Entscheidung "on whether or not to implement RDA"' - so die Formulierung, mit der die drei Nationalbibliotheken im Mai 2008 ihr Testvorhaben angekündigt hatten - erwartet worden. Am 14. Juni wurde das "executive summary" zusammen mit einer Verlautbarung der Direktoren veröffentlicht; seit dem 17. Juni liegt der vollständige Bericht inklusive der Empfehlungen vor.

Juni 2011 veröffentlichte das DLM Forum die Core Services und Plug-in-Module für die Modular Requirements for Record Systems (MoReq2010®)-Spezifikation für elektronische Records-Management- Systeme (ERMS). Kaum veröffentlicht, spalten sich die Meinungen hinsichtlich Funktionalität und Nützlichkeit des neuen Standards. Ist eine Neu-Vermessung der ERM-Systeme notwendig oder wird mit MoReq2010 lediglich ein weiterer Records Management-Standard übers Knie gebrochen?
