    Abstract
Criticizes the current processes of information management, with the objective of arriving at a new concept of the electronic document. Discusses problems of human language in the context of information management. Examines the problem of information from the point of view of the structure of knowledge, by analysing dysfunction in current processes of information management. Proposes a model of knowledge nearer to the human mind called 'document hypertext'. A combined interface of information management id also applicable in studies of hardware, graphic interfaces and metaphors of visualization of information. The current excessive fragmentation and artificial treatment of information structures could be avoided by simplifying of processes of information management and creating integral interfaces that bring information systems closer to the user

    Abstract
Describes a project which modelled the human reading of a printed maintenance manual and designed and implemented a hypertext version of the document using Apple Computer's HyperCard. Since few fully specified hypertext systems have been deployed, the research was undertaken to build a platform on which notions about the efficacy of nonlinear text processing for a specific application could be tried out. Describes a stackware version of a portion of an aircraft maintenance manual and considers issues of data storage models, user interface, and information retrieval methods for online text. These elements - among others - are the essence of the new rhetoric for non-sequential text

    Abstract
The disciplines of human-computer interaction, computer-supported collaborative work, information storage and retrieval, and artificial intelligence should complement one another in the new discipline of hypertext. This holistic view of hypertext focuses on links: links within a document (microtext), links among documents (macrotext), links among people (grouptext), and dynamic links (expertext). The principles and systems which are relevant to creating and accessing hypertext can be usefully presented under the heading of text, microtext, macrotext, grouptext and expertext. From text to expertext, people consistently use hierarchical structures, particularly hierarchical semantic nets, to organize information

    Abstract
Outlines the progress of HyperLib, research which began in 1993 to develop a hypertext interface to the online catalogue and other databases at the University of Antwerp. A human factors oriented design methodology was adopted. A user survey was carried out. The project has focused on development of electronic guides and manual and interfaces to access an academic bibliography database and the UDC subject classification scheme. Evaluation is being carried out in 1995

    Abstract
Proposes a theoretical framework for organizing information and activities in educational hypermedia systems. Focuses on the content that can be represented within a physical media, rather than the physical media itself. Proposes a theory of cognitive media types based on the inferential and learning processes of human users. Presents an implemented computer system, called AlgoNet, that supports hypermedia information access and constructive learning activities for self paced learning in computer and engineering disciplines

    Abstract
Details the use of multimedia CD-ROMs by people in their homes. Investigates how users interact with the systems and gather data which they consider to be relevant evaluation criteria. Defines what is considered to be interactive multimedia in relation to home products and considers the characteristics of home users. Reviews systems evaluation methods in the fields of computer assisted learning, human computer interaction, and information retrieval. Gives factors considered to be specifically relevant to the home use situation, and details the methods employed in the study

    Abstract
Presents a 3 dimensional model of information exploration. An attempt is made to clarify the respective roles of the human and the system in browsing and information retrieval, and to characterise alternative interaction styles to maximise retrieval effectiveness. Illustrates the applicability of the model of exploration by describing 8 paradigmatic cases of information exploration that represent different vertices of the model. Describes initial experiment that attempted to assess the pragmatic impact of various combinations of exploration features. Discusses methods for integrating hypermedia and information retrieval into general information exploration systems and discusses some of the processes that people use in information exploration. Argues for the development of hybrid information systems combining exploration features in the most appropriate way according to the task needs of users
