    Abstract
    Das Internetangebot vieler Bibliotheken ist derart umfangreich, dass eigentlich eine Einführung in Dienstleistungen und Funktionalität sinnvoll erscheint. Nun nimmt aber nicht gleich jeder Nutzer an entsprechenden Einführungen teil, zumal für derartige Veranstaltungen auch noch die Anwesenheit in der Bibliothek zu einer bestimmten Zeit erforderlich wird. Sidemaps und Suchfunktion führen nicht immer zum Ziel, eine virtuelle Führung durch das Angebot über die Homepage ist eine mögliche Alternative.

    Abstract
    Die Entwicklung des Internets ist in einer neuen Dimension der Partizipation angelangt. Während bislang Dienste wie Google, Amazon, eBay und Spiegel Online eine zumindest gefühlte Monopolisierung anstrebten, hat sich eine neue Generation von Anwendungen, die sich unter dem Namen Web 2.0 subsumieren, in kürzester Zeit etabliert. Für viele Nutzer ist die wohl bekannteste partizipative Anwendung des Netzes, die Wikipedia, nicht mehr wegzudenken. Auch der Wahlkampf der aktuellen Wahl in den Vereinigten Staaten zeigte uns beispielhaft, wie sich das Mitmachnetz zur Ansprache neuer Wähler/Kundengruppen eignet und welche enormen Bindungskräfte entstehen, wenn die Nutzer auf diesem Weg angesprochen werden. Die Obama-Welle wäre wohl ohne die neuen Möglichkeiten des Netzes so nicht denkbar gewesen. ... Es fehlt uns in erster Linie weniger an der technischen Reife, als an qualifizierten Konzepten und dem nötigen Mut zur Einbindung der neuen Technologien in unser Dienstleistungsangebot. Die Zeit zur Verwirklichung von Web 2.0-Anwendungen in unseren Einrichtungen ist reif. Wagen wir den Aufbruch. Oder um es mit Hermann Hesse zu sagen: "Jedem Anfang wohnt ein Zauber inne, der uns beschützt und der uns hilft, zu leben."

    Abstract
    Informationssuche findet heute vor allem im Internet statt. Sie hat sich damit mehr und mehr von den räumlichen und zeitlichen Beschränkungen gelöst, die durch die Erreichbarkeit und die Öffnungszeiten von Bibliotheken gegeben waren. Informationssuchende wollen möglichst rund um die Uhr an sieben Tagen in der Woche vom heimischen PC aus oder mobil via Notebook in weltweit bereitgestellten Informationsangeboten recherchieren und dabei auch professionelle Auskunftsservices in Anspruch nehmen. Um diesen veränderten Bedingungen und Bedürfnissen Rechnung zu tragen, bieten Bibliotheken zunehmend auch netzbasierte Dienstleistungen an. Die SUB Göttingen führte im Jahr 2002 den elektronischen Auskunftsservice "Frag' die SUB" ein, der es Nutzern weltweit ermöglicht, über ein Webformular Fragen zu den verschiedenen Sammelschwerpunkten der SUB, aber auch allgemeine Fragen nach Ressourcen und Dienstleistungen zu stellen.

    Als die Telekom im Juni 96 eine neue T-Online CD-ROM verteilte, nannte die Zeitschrift com! als Highlight unter den Änderungen die Einbindung externer e-mail-Programme sowie das erweiterte e-mail Modul, mit dem T-Online-Nutzer ihre Ausgangspost nochmals überarbeiten können. Diese Verbesserungen ändern jedoch nichts daran, daß man den richtigen Weg wählen muß, um e-mails schnell zu erstellen und gleichzeitig in die normale Korrespondenz zu integrieren
