    Abstract
    Using diagrams as well as detailed descriptions of equipment and systems, the future strategies for storing and disseminating sound documents in the German Broadcasting Archives are outlined. Reasons for the choice of a digital storage and transfer system are discussed under headings such as data security and integration with other archive media. The escalating costs of continuing to use analogue technology are contrasted with the medium and long term reduction of costs envisaged with digital technology

    Abstract
    In the Netherlands and Belgium some 50 documentation centres on women's affairs have been created in recent years, ranging from small voluntary centres through university departmental collections to regional and national centres. Increased interest in women's affairs resulted in a joint project by the International Informatiecentrum an Archief voor de Vrouwenbeweging and the Anna Maria van Schuurman Centre to create a thesaurus of indexing terminlogy. Work began in 1988 and the final version was published in 1992. The thesaurus contains some 2.200 terms and 700 references and includes a permuterm index of headings. The IIAV in Amsterdam has accepted responsibility for maintaining the thesaurus

    Lecture given at the AIBM conference, Karlsruhe, Sep 95. The thesaurus appeared 1st in 1982, produced according to DIN standard 1463. This standard is largely adhered to, with 2 deviations: the controlled vocabulary is rather universal, covering more than 1 musical field, and descriptors are used as systematic collection points, with non-decriptors as subordinate headings. The 1994 edition has widened its contents range. There are still problems with ambiguity of headings and titles

    Considers whether joint syntax (a single step linking object and procedure) or disjoint, 2 step, processes are best suited to particular tasks of text editing. Finds that specific procedures are not necessarily faster to use than general ones. users of joint editors consulted the help menu less often and for longer and experienced a greater workload than users of disjoint editors. The experiment shows that general text editing procedures obeying a disjoint systax minimize workload. Specific objects and joint syntax are advanced features that should be reserved for experienced users

    Abstract
    The national library service SBN originated 12 years ago and now comprises 450 libraries in a joint computerised network, with some 2.500.000 entries in the joint catalogue. The Ministry of Culture, universities, local administration, and research and cultural instituions are all equal but independent partners, though as a publicly funded initiative the network is hamoered by bureaucracy. Current developments include retroconversion and the creation of specialist databases of manuscripts, grey literature and sound materials. At present the cataloguing function is successful, but interlibrary loan remains unsatisfactory

    Spansih subject headings can be used when searching ILLINET Online. Although Spanish language Bilindex subject headings have been available for more than a decade, the library literature has virtually ignored their existence. Provides a brief introduction to these headings, identifies several Illinois libraries which currently assign them, and presents some examples. Surveys various prospects and problems associated with their use
