    Abstract
    Ausgehend von den Begriffen Dokumentation und Publikation werden die Probleme bei der Erfassung, Speicherung, Bereitstellung und langfristigen Archivierung von elektronischen Dokumenten mit komplexen Inhalten thematisiert. Der ISO-Standard 8879 (Standard Generalized Markup Language - SGML) stellt ein Konzept für die rStrukturierung von Wissen, das in elektronischen Dokumenten verschiedenster Art enthalten ist, zur Verfügung. Da SGML ein internationaler Standard ist und auf dem Prinzip der Hard- und Softwareunabhängigkeit basiert, kann SGML für Verwaltung und Pflege von komplexen Lebenszeitendokumenten eingesetzt werden. Die am Inhalt orientierte Strukturierung der Dokumente läßt sich darüber hinaus für ein qualitätvolles Retrieval nutzen. In Abgrenzung zu SGML werden die von dieser Norm abgeleiteten Konzepte von XML (Extensible Markup Language) und HTML (HyperText Markup Language) vorgestellt.

    Abstract
    Im Jahre 1999 hörte ich bei einer Tagung von Neurowissenschaftlern und Geistesphilosophen einen Vortrag der bekannten Neurophilosophin Patricia Churchland. In der anschließenden Diskussion fragte sie ein Zuschauer die Große Frage: Wie denn nun Gehirn und Bewusstsein zusammenhingen? Churchland antwortete (so zumindest habe ich es in meinem kreativen Gedächtnis gespeichert): Nun, dazu seien wir ja hier, um das von den Neurobiologen zu erfahren. Es war die Bankrotterklärung der Philosophie: Bewusstsein als biologisches Problem. Allerdings war die Kapitulation der Geistesphilosophen zu der Zeit nachvollziehbar, denn die Neurowissenschaften zeigten quasi täglich neu die enge Kopplung von Gehirnfunktion und Erlebnisinhalten, die skurrilen Ausfallserscheinungen bei neurologischen Patienten mit klar definierten Schädigungen, und biochemische, drogeninduzierte Veränderungen des Bewusstseins.     Abstract
    Website-Indexing wurde in den 1990er Jahren wichtig, als Indexierer, Bibliothekare und Web-Manager mit verschiedenen Ansätzen experimentierten, einen besseren Zugang zu Informationen zu schaffen, die sie über das Internet anboten. Die Tools, mit denen Register erstellt werden, reichten von simpler HTML-Codierung bis zu HTML Indexer und anderer spezieller Software. Neue Indexe und Software-Produkte entstanden, aber viele Website-Register sind auch wieder verschwunden. Es werden die Gründe für die Erstellung von Website-Indexen dargestellt und Beispiele von Website-Indexen und anderen Zugangsoptionen erläutert, die in den letzten 15 Jahren entstanden, die aber nicht mehr zur Verfügung stehen. Es werden einige Vermutungen über die Gründe für diese Veränderungen angestellt.
