    Abstract
    Das CrissCross-Projekt verfolgt die Zielsetzung, ein erweitertes multilinguales und thesaurusbasiertes Registervokabular zur Dewey-Dezimalklassifikation (DDC Deutsch) zu erstellen, das als Recherchevokabulars zu heterogen erschlossenen Dokumenten verwendet werden kann und soll damit die Ausgangsbedingungen für die Gestaltung von OPAC-Retrievalumgebungen verbessern helfen. Im einzelnen soll jedes Sachschlagwort der Schlagwortnormdatei (SWD) eine DDC-Notation erhalten und es sollen die im Projekt MACS begonnen Arbeiten fortgesetzt werden, Links zwischen den Schlagwörtern der SWD, den Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) und dem Répertoire d'autorité-matière encyclopédique et alphabétique unifé (Rameau) herzustellen. In diesem Beitrag wird der Vorschlag gemacht, die Zielsetzung des Projektes darin zu sehen, eine Kern-Ontologie mit universalen Relationen als Klassifikation zu benutzen und die beteiligten Normdateien als zugeordnete semantische Netze zu entwickeln, indem nicht-generische Relationen die Aufgabe der durch die Lokalisierung gestellten Anforderungen übernehmen. Generische Relationen im bekannten Thesaurussinn sind für derartige semantische Netze nicht mehr erforderlich, da sie sich aus den generischen Beziehungen der Kern-Ontologie vererben.

    Abstract
    Was immer Gegenstand eines Themas oder einer sonstigen Befassung werden kann und wie immer man thematisiert, immer sind zwei Grundvoraussetzungen zu machen: daß es um ein 'Etwas' geht und daß dieses Etwas in einem 'Rahmen' zu sehen ist. Als konstitutive Elemente für jede Thematisierung werden drei Momente genannt: das Etwas (Elementale), die Relation (Interale) und das Ganze (Totale).     Abstract
    The system is available both in print and online versions. Names a few new subject headings in areas like science, technology, engineering and medicine (STEM). In this edition, there are a total of 1,600 new headings making it a total of 12,000+ preferred headings meant for subject access in small and medium sized libraries. This unprecedented increase of about 1,600 headings is mostly due the complete incorporation of the Canadian Sears last published independently in 2006. Also critically examines inconsistencies in a few headings. Concludes to say the new edition in resplendent, hard binding maintains its stellar reputation of a handy list of general subject headings both for applications and a teaching resource.

    Abstract
    Auf der Ebene der Systemfunktionalität werden konventionelle Dokument-Retrieval-Systeme und Fakten-Retrieval-Systeme mit Expertensystemen verglichen. Anhand eines juristischen Informationsproblems und exemplarischer Interaktion zwischen Benutzer und System werden die verfügbaren Wissensquellen jedes Systemtyps sowie notwendiges Hintergrundwissen der Systembenutzer rekonstruiert. Das Problemlösungsvermögen von Expertensystemen wird am Beispiel deduktiver Schlußfolgerungsoperationen auf einer juristischen Regelbasis illustriert. Die Gegenüberstellung der auf diese Weise abgeleiteten Merkmale von konventionellen und intelligenten Informationssystemen wird durch eine Einschätzung der Auswirkungen ergänzt, die Information-Retrieval-Experten-Systeme auf die Informationspraxis haben können

    Abstract
    Datenbanken haben inzwischen eine Tradition, die ein halbes Jahrhundert umfasst - sieht man davon ab, dass sie oft auf noch wesentlich ältere papiergestützte Datensammlungen zurückgehen. Wie sieht es aber mit Datenbank-Management-Systemen aus? Jede Datenbank braucht Programme zur Verwaltung und Suche ihrer Daten. Trotzdem hat sich der Begriff des Datenbank-Management-Systems (DBMS) erst wesentlich später entwickelt, und er wird auch nicht auf jedes Programmsystem angewendet, das zum Verwalten und Durchsuchen von Datenbanken bestimmt ist. Im Folgenden wird daher die sich gegenseitig beeinflussende Entwicklung von Datenbanken und DBMS nachgezeichnet, um die aktuelle Situation und die sich andeutenden Entwicklungen einschätzen zu können.
